Product Description
"Sexual Behavior in the Human Female" was originally published in 1953, five years after the male volume. The material presented in this book was derived from personal interviews with nearly 6,000 women; from studies in sexual Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology, and Endocrinology. The book presents data on the incidence and frequency with which women participate in various types of sexual activity. The authors show how such factors as age, decade of birth, and religious adherence are reflected in patterns of sexual behavior. Some measure of the social significance of the various types of sexual behavior is provided. The authors make comparisons of female and male sexual activities, and investigate the factors which account for the similarities and differences between female and male patterns of behavior.

A Classic that will probably not ever be allowed to be repeated

This is one of the true classics of the SCIENTIFIC study of Human Sexuality! Though for many, research done more than a couple years ago may seem unapplicable, Unfortunately ---- this extensive and truly groundbreaking research could NOT be repeated today in this climate of fear, religious oppression and heavy handed research oversight. Studying ACTUAL human sexuality, (based on world-wide-accepted statistical methodologies of large cohorts) to report on observed and self reported data was the goal, not to portray what some might LIKE or BELIEVE is the "right" or "moral" or "acceptable" behavior. Leave that to other books, unrelated to science and critical data analysis. We might never be able to do this kind of study again if we continue to think that by not LOOKING at something that makes some people uncomfortable - means it does not exist. Hmmmmmmmm sounds like the flat earth theory to me. Study Human Sexuality - understand it, see if for what it is...and what it is not... EDUCATE yourself. Start with men or women....does not matter....just do it.

'Anyone have an actual review for this book? I'm trying to figure out how it was published, and what people think of it as compared to its "Male" counterpart.

Mr. Tarbell - Get Your Facts Straight
Rating (5)

It is rather obvious from reading Mr. Tarbell's misguided review that he either a: a right-wing fundamentalist with issues about his own sexuality or b: he never took a course on human sexuality in college or c: he doesn't know anything about the life and work of Dr. Kinsey or d: all of the above. Making statements that equate Dr. Kinsey to a pedophile are both misguided and patently false. There is no evidence to support such a statement and frankly, it is a slap in the face to the amazing work that Dr. Kinsey and his team performed, and the work that the Kinsey Institute continues to conduct in the spirit of science and knowledge.

I would have only one question to you Mr Tarbell: Do you have children?
If you would then you would know that what Dr Kinsey is talking about, parents are witnessing it from a very young age of their children.
Children are very curious about everything and their sex and functionality is something they need to explore. Dr Kinsey did interview parents about their children sex behavior.
If you think that this is sick for a toddler to touch themselves or play with themselves then this is you the sick person. What is making you unconfortable is that you compare it as an adult sex behavior and see it this way. You are then scared of what you would feel about it, maybe some pleasure!
This is people like you that would create pedophiles and people that rape.
Study of sex behavior is the same than studying another human behavior like rural life. You don't have to live in the countryside to do the study because this is not about what you think, this is about what people do.
Just for your own knowledge and your own good, in the Webster dictionnary, study means: "a careful examination or analysis of a phenomenon, development, or question". Can you see the word "examination" and "analysis" these two words are different than "testing" or "application".
When you lack knowledge as much as you do, you just don't say anything except if you want to be seeing as a fool (to be politically correct).
Please for the sake of everyone don't ever write critics on something you don't understand...Thank you

Just type Kinsey on any search site... go to the Institute Website... Click on about the Institute, then click on the MOVIE poster, and then go to.... FAQ's about the film
CLICK ON, Where did the childhood sexual data come from?
The site is Copyrighted, that's why I did not post the paragraph, plus it's better to read it FROM THE SOURCE...
It's good we have internet and can find the correct information.
I'm buying the book after watching the movie, and saw the FALSE STATEMENT of Mr.Stephen Tarbell. I'm sure once I have the book I will never find what he wrote..... quote "it's OK to sexually victimize children if it's in the name of "science"?" I'm a reasonable person and I would actually want to find out where inside the book did this man read this on the studies, WHAT PAGE?..... Studying a behavior does not mean supporting it.
