What a waste of my time!

I am a woman who is a psychotherapist and who has also been involved in the custody process from many angles, both professionally and personally. I find this book to be sexist at best. The book seems to advocate mothers to pretend to be the 'good' Mom versus really being a good Mom. This book does not include any guidance for men or couples, only for women. It sounds like Deedra considers herself a victim, and I have a feeling she needs to take another look at this aspect. I wonder how her kids and ex husband feel about her and her book??? Not worth your time or money.

Deedra Hunter thinks that it is only a tragedy when women are damaged by the custody experience. I have news for her the custody process is humiliating, infuriating, and degrading for men as well as women. Hunter encourages women to see themselves as victims of men and the courts and that a mother's love is more important than father's love. From my point of view the courts spend a lot of time protecting women and they have always had the sisterhood behind them. I don't know how to fix this mess but I am sure this book won't help.

A woman needs advice on getting custody like a sandwich needs advice to include bread. If you're looking for a positive book on how to make things better, written by a psychologist who's not trying to rationalize her own personal problems, try "Divorce Poison: Protecting the Parent-Child Bond from a Vindictive Ex", by Richard Warshak.

An excellent supporting book to 'Taken in to custody'

This book should be read in conjunction with Stephen Baskervilles 'Taken in to custody' in order to get the full picture of the child custody system in our country today.
Deadras book is able to outline some of the motivations behind Baskervilles excellent work on the purely evil bias against men in the family courts today. Every manipulation, every advantage yielding false accusation that can be used by the 'fairer' sex can be pieced together using these two books. Whilst Baskervilles book exposes the mountain that men have to climb in order to attain equality, Deadra is able to manipulate the truth of the situation to show the gentle slope that women have to endure in order to exact the most rewarding revenge on their childrens 'less important' parent. It is a sobering and torturous wake up call that any man who has been through the system does not need, and any women who seeks maximum pain on their insignificant other, will take full advantage of.
The contrast between the two make for excellent reading and insight in to the so called equality of gender feminism.
