This is the four volume 1956 edition consisting of Vol. 1, The Birth of Britain, Vol. 2, The New World, Vol.3, The Age of Revolution, Vol. 4, The Great Democracies. All four hard back books are in quite nice clean and crisp condition, with a grey cover and black/red/ gold letter spine. Volume 2 has two small red marks on front hard cover. The pages are very lightly cream in color not at all yellowed. Dust jackets are in ectremely poor shape. All four are faded torn and showing wear & tear.
